Billy 2 yrs Tweenie/Male
Billy was found wandering around in the country and taken to the pound. After cleaning him up we found one cute little dachshund! This 13 lbs guy is around 2 years old, has been neutered, is current on his shots, and is heartworm negative and on prevention. He is crate trained and can walk on a leash. He does well with other dogs and loves people.
Gillman 3 yrs Standard/Male Gillman is a 3 year old neutered, standard red dapple. An examination indicates that this boy has had a rough past. He has an old break of his back leg that healed on its own. His jaw is offset and he has an old, stable injury to one eye, perhaps like someone kicked him in the head. He came to us with a deep, open gash is his thigh. Yet despite this you won't find a sweeter dog. Take one look at him and he rolls on his back, tail wagging vigorously, begging for a belly rub. And he sure can give kisses! You'll have to look hard to find a better boy! He has won the hearts of everyone at the vet clinic treating him. He has all of his shots and is heartworm negative and on prevention. We know that there is home out that that can show him the kindness that apparently he hasn't much from people in his life.
Pito 3 yrs Tweenie/Male Pito was in a very abusive and neglectful home. Lucky for him, a family member was strong enough to step in and get him out and to the safety of CTDR. We are happy to report that both physically and psychologically he is in surprisingly good shape. He is a gorgeous, 3 year old 12 lb black and tan dapple. He is current on his vaccinations and is heartworm negative and on prevention. UPDATE: 4/6/07Pito is doing wonderfully. He loves toys, and dogs that are toy-motivated are highly trainable, and he has learned many new things. He does great with the other dogs in his foster home and all the people who meet him fall in love with him. He is very muscular and would make a great walking partner! Pito has now been neutered, and the behaviorist declares this this is one fine dog who is ready for a home! UPDATE: 6/29/07Pito has gone through some basic training and can sit for his dinner, and knows basic commands like "sit", "come" and "down." Not only is this dog gorgeous, but he is well mannered and sweet too. His foster mom reports that he is just the best dog that she could ever have!

Odin 3 yrs Mini/Male Look at Odin - what a little cutie he is! Our volunteer who picked him up from the Dallas shelter thought she had picked up a young and sweet little boy. Well, she did, but when she got him home, she also realized that he is totally blind. Our vets and an eye specialist confirmed that Odin has been blind for a while. It is likely a genetic defect or it could have been from an infection. Regardless, like so many dogs that we call "special needs," Odin doesn't let it stop him, and he gets around really well. He could not be sweeter and loves to give affection and snuggle in your neck. Odin is a really quiet and easygoing red mini and gets along well with other dogs too. He has been neutered and had a dental and is up to date on shots.

I like Odin.
"By Odin's Raven!!!!"
LOL!
Hmmm. Difficult choice. I'd say you're doing the right thing opting for small. I had a small dog for 17(?) years and now I've had a big dog for 4. She sheds like a ... big dog.
Anyhoo, I think I'd go for Billy. Crate trained is way up there on my list and he doesn't seem to have any potential, um, trust-of-human issues.
